Here is one family's glimpse of a typical day in Spokane...

Alarm goes off in the morning, time to get up and get that daily exercise. As you are getting in your car, a neighbor runs up to give you your newspaper and encourages you to have a good day. On the way to the gym we see a beautiful sunrise and mountains in the backdrop. People are out jogging, biking and walking in the neighborhood.

Later on we have several coffee shops to choose from to stop to get a hot cup coffee. The people talk to you as if they've known you for years.

It's now time to take the kids to school. You see fathers and mothers giving their kids a hug and occasionally stop to talk about parenting and the events going on in their lives or community. We'll ask, "hey would you and your family to come over for dinner" and we are rarely turned down for a get together. Many will in turn say, " then the next time dinner is on us at our house."

Time to get to work. On the way we see, rivers, mountains, very little traffic and beautiful skies. I drop my spouse off and head in for a busy day. For lunch, I have about an hour, we decide to go to Riverside State Park only minutes from downtown, it's a popular Spokane River site for picnicking, hiking and river watching. I sit to eat by the swinging bridge which crosses the Spokane River. Before I head back to work, I stand above the rushing water which offers a natural thrill and revives my spirit. I can't believe it seemed like I was miles and miles away from city-life yet nature was only minutes away. I guess the city's slogan makes sense...Near Nature, Near Perfect.

We both arrive home from work, the kids have been hanging out at a neighbor's house with their friends. We take some time to catch up from our day and decide to go hang out at the River Front Park. As we arrive, we stop by a large fountain and allow our kids to play. We stroll through and hear the sound of live music, water falls and lots of laughter. We decide to go on the merry-go-round and then take a ride on the gondola over Spokane Falls. We stop for some cotton candy and play some catch.

It's time to go home, but first we need to stop at the store to pick up some dinner. On the way we see the typical big-city conveniences that are available for shopping like Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Malls, Movie Theatres, etc. We finally arrive back home and have dinner.

We take a walk around the corner where we see some friends from the neighborhood. We get to talking and decide to plan for the both of our families to take a Saturday get-a-way to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho which is only 35 minutes away to go boating, tubing and fishing.

We get back home and start thinking that this is an incredible area to live in. We begin to realize that people are frequently getting out of town to enjoy the local outdoor activities with fishing poles, kayaks, or hiking boots.
