Spokane Christian Church

We have a youth ministry because we are serious about helping families be united in Christ. We see teens becoming strong disciples of Jesus Christ; we see families all over Greater Spokane being united in Christ. There is an incredible need for caring adults to disciple and mentor teens toward Christ. Today our youth are being bombarded with the attacks from Satan through the media, so called friends with loose boundaries and weak standards in the public school. Their spiritual needs should be specifically targeted so that they can have concrete practicals to cope with the chaos.

We desire to help youth see the potential pitfalls and dangers of this world. Youth need a spiritual arsenal to deflect Satan’s attack. We intend to give them that arsenal. We desire to provide a safe place for youth to be listened to and inspired to do great things for God. Convictions need to be built into the young character from the Pre Teen years till they are ready to leave the home as an 18 year old. This requires careful instruction and beautiful harmony between these years to develop strong spiritual character.

We desire for High School students to leave the home spiritually prepared and ready to meet the world and its challenges. We desire to help teen disciples be effective in sharing their faith, walking closely with God and loving each other with the love of Christ. We desire for members kids to love being involved within the ministry. We desire for Middle School and Pre Teens students to build their identity on spiritual principles. We desire to be a place where Christianity comes alive.

Youth Ministry is a resource for parents and adults that need help, input and direction on raising and rearing their teenager.  We desire to be a resource for families both within the church and outside of the the church.  We desire to be a communication bridge for the parent and the youth.  We desire to be involved with the family to help strengthen it for Christ.  We believe that God will use youth ministry to help us to reach families for His purposes.

"Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed.  He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace.  So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace.  The king's command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.  Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?"  They replied, "Certainly, O king."  He said, "Look! I se e four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."  Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!"  So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire…"
Daniel 3:19-26 (NIV)

fire

Our schools have been ignited on fire!  The school has become a furnace that has been heated up seven times hotter than when our parents went to school.  The temptations are stronger, the lures are craftier and the cravings of the world are more intense! Evil has you in a headlock and wickedness has chained your hands and feet.  You have been thrown into the fiery hallways and cafeterias of America.  You have been tossed into the raging fire!  You are a youth on fire!

Ever felt that way?  I know I did!  Youth - are you ready to be a mighty teen for God?  Are you ready to elevate your spiritual game?  The time is now to get charged and realize that we have a God that is ready to join us in our fireplace.  Youth - Its time for us to step out on faith and truly make a difference in our schools.  God will be there to protect us! Its time to have the faith of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

So what does that mean practically?  1) Learn to love and rely on God through prayer, 2) Get deep into one another's lives and call each other higher, 3) Seek out the truth from God's Word through class and personal study in scripture so you can grow spiritually, and 4) Be on a mission to Change the World for God.
