"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. -John 13:34
At the end of the year 2008, the Core Leadership Team of the Spokane Christian Church decided after prayer, discussion and planning that the year 2009 would be focused on the theme “Loving One Another.” The idea was to become the family that God intended for us to become…to be a people that truly cared for one another that way that Jesus cared about people…to be that refuge from the world, to be that safe place, to be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Recently, the Church began a 40-day focus on relationships with one another. For the next several days, we will examine the one another scriptures in the Word of God. Each day, we’ll study a scripture and be given a practical challenge. Our hope as a fellowship is to be transformed by God’s Word. We’ve called it the “40-Day Relationship Building Plan.” Members of the Church were given a booklet that has a daily “one another” scripture and challenge. We are off to a good start; we are at day 9…to give you an idea of what each day looks like here is a sampling from Day 9:
Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Consider means to think through, to take time to contemplate and to put some thought into it. Today, think through the people in your small group, who can you spur on toward love and good deeds. How so? Are they any others that you’d like to encourage? Decide that you will encourage someone in the fellowship daily this week!
Pray for the Church to be all that God intends for us to be so that the world will know that we are his sons and daughters.
